As of Oct. 9, Buc-ee's had not posted an exact opening date on its website, and its locations page does not yet list the Murfreesboro store.

The store is going up along Elam Road and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, near the Joe B. Jackson Parkway interchange on Interstate 24. City records track the project:

• June 18, 2025: The Murfreesboro Planning Commission approved, on its consent agenda, a final plat for Buc-ee's, Lots 1 & 2: two lots on 46.53 acres zoned G-I along Elam Road and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, with Buc-ee's Murfreesboro, LLC as developer.
• May 20 and June 3, 2026: Buc-ee's LTD applied to add a Buc-ee's PSO overlay to about 30.17 acres of the site, keeping its G-I zoning. The commission scheduled a public hearing on May 20. On June 3, no one spoke for or against it, and the commission approved the application as a recommendation to City Council.

For drivers heading up and down I-24 between Nashville and Chattanooga, it adds a new option alongside the existing truck stops and travel plazas in Murfreesboro.

Buc-ee's careers site lists five Murfreesboro openings, with pay set by position:

• Cashier: $20 an hour
• Deli/Food Service Associate: $25 an hour
• Grocery Associate: $20 an hour
• Gift Associate: $20 an hour
• Janitorial/Cleaning & Maintenance Attendant: $20 an hour
