What is OFLOW in Murfreesboro?

OFLOW Bakery & Cafe, also called Overflow (Brews & Bakes), is a scratch bakery and cafe at 115 North Maple Street on the downtown Murfreesboro Square. Its “brews” are coffee and tea, not beer. It bakes sourdough, kolaches, cheesecakes and pastries, pours coffee, tea and bubble tea, and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Owner Doug Berg is the baker and is in the shop most days; his wife Sally handles the business side, catering and tea party bookings, and their children help out as runners and dishwashers. The cafe opened on September 1, 2022, and calls itself locally owned, veteran owned and community focused. The name comes from Psalm 23:5, “My cup overflows.”

It sits a few doors from the courthouse, so it pairs well with a walk around the Murfreesboro Public Square. For more places to pick up bread and sweets, see our Murfreesboro bakeries guide.

What Does OFLOW Serve?

Everything is baked from scratch. The cafe's own site lists these among its regulars:

From the bakery

  • Sourdough breads and French baguettes
  • Texas-style savory kolaches and Asian pork buns
  • English muffin breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy
  • Ciabatta sandwiches and focaccia
  • New York-style cheesecakes, pies and banana pudding
  • Macarons, Belgian chocolate truffles, muffins and cookies

To drink

  • Coffee and lattes with house-made syrups
  • Handcrafted and loose-leaf teas
  • Bubble (boba) tea

Regulars can join the Bread Club: prepay for a weekly bread order at 10% off and pick it up Wednesday through Saturday, with no automatic billing. OFLOW also takes catering and special orders. The cafe's coffee comes through a partnership with Narrow Gate Coffee in Franklin, which trains young men, some in recovery, in skills such as roasting.

High Tea Parties and Events

OFLOW is best known downtown for its high tea parties: 90-minute afternoon teas by reservation, usually with 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. seatings. New dates go to the cafe's email subscribers first. Its October 2026 calendar lists tea parties on Saturday, October 17, and Saturday, October 31.

Other events on the same calendar: a Tin Foil Hat Open Mic and Pay It Forward Night on Thursday, October 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. (10% of purchases that night are donated), and Halloween cookie decorating on Saturday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to noon. Through its Pay It Forward program, customers chip in and OFLOW bakes and delivers for The Journey Home in Murfreesboro. Check the events page before you go, and see the Murfreesboro events calendar for more.
